If you're looking for the spirit of the West combined with Native American culture and the arts, New Mexico is where it's at. When you choose to visit one of the New Mexico resorts, you'll have easy access to mountains, forests, lakes, and deserts. From trying Lady Luck at one of the casino resorts in New Mexico to being a star on the slopes, your trip won't be lacking in excitement.

One of the most iconic attractions in the state is Carlsbad Caverns, home to beautiful rock formations and one of the world's biggest bat flights. Anglers will be thrilled to learn that there are 62 lakes from which to choose. There's a good reason this state is called the Land of Enchantment. Book your cheap flight to New Mexico today through Expedia.com.au and get ready to see what awaits at hotels in New Mexico.

When Should You Visit?

One of the best things about New Mexico is that you'll experience all sorts of weather. If you're into winter sports, you'll find yourself in paradise from November through March. Quench your thirst for winter adventure with skiing, snowboarding, and other winter sports. Spring and summer are great times to get out and explore the beautiful state and national parks that dot the state. Some of the southern areas of the state regularly see high temperatures well into the 80s and 90s during the daytime, but the cooler nights provide more opportunities for stargazing, so it's a win-win either way. If your idea of a dream vacation involves the time of year when the state has moderate temperatures and fewer tourists, spring and fall are both good times to stay at New Mexico hotels.

What to Do

There are so many outdoor treasures here that you'll never run out of things to see. Go down through the Mogollon Rim area and put yourself back in time. You'll also want to see the impressive White Sands Monument and play in the sand. Experience the unique culture of Taos, or go tribal at the Navajo Nation. Check out the UFO Museum in Roswell and see if you recognize any of the unidentified aircraft.

Native Americans have lived in the area for over 13,000 years, and Europeans arrived in the area in the 16th century. To this day, the state has a culture that features uniquely Native American and Spanish influences. The International Balloon Fiesta, held every October in Albuquerque, is one of the most colorful events in the area and one that you won't want to miss. Intertribal gatherings also give you a chance to jump into native songs and dances.

Great Eats

You'll love this state's abundance of Mexican-style and Southwestern foods, enriched with native chile peppers for that extra zing. Sample red or green chile sauce to smother your burrito or omelet, or ask for "Christmas" if you want to try both. Pinon nuts and blue corn tortillas are local menu staples, and fry bread, an Apache treat, makes a tasty addition to meals.
